Name: Khaptad National  park
Location: west Nepal
Headquarters: Khaptad
Area: 225 sq. km.(main area) and 216 sq. km ( buffer zone)
Activities: Trekking and Meditation
Accommodation: Camping



Transportation: -Kathmandu-Nepalgunj flight (60 min.), then flight to Chainpur               
                                  (Bajhang) (20 min.) and then walk (3 days).
                                -Kathmandu-Dhangadi (70 min. through flight or 670km through 
                                  driving), drive to Silgadi and trek (1 day).
Best Seasons:  March-May and October-November (10-20 ° C temperature)
                             June-September (rainy)
                            December-February (snow)


 Main Attractions:
-The home of Late Khaptad Swami, a well-known scholar and a hermit.

-Rich natural habitat of flora and fauna; -Rolling hills of grasslands and subtropical forests
                                                                                -224 species of medicinal herbs
                                                                                - 270 species of birds -> varieties of  impheyan pheasants, patridges, flycatchers, bulbuls, cuckoos and eagles in common
                                                                               - -Himalayan black bear, yellow throated martem, rhesus monkey and langur  
                                                                                    monkeys as main animals
                                                                                 -Pleasant sightseeing at Tribeni, way to
                                                                                   headquarters

- Rich in historical and religious values;   -several historical temples surrounding the area
                                                                                - annual celebration of Ganga Dashhara held every year on Jestha Purnima ( full moon day)
                                                                                - Sahashra Linga at 3200m., the highest point of the park, is also an important religious site.
    
  - Other religious areas like Ganesh Temple, Nagdhunga   and Kedardhunga are ideal places for meditation
                                                                         
  - Khaptad Lake, towards the northwest of the park, is a region where festival is held every August and September
